EVOLUTION OF WARR

In September of 1982, the inaugural WARR was held in San Francisco's Golden Park.  300 runners who represented 30 airlines attended the event.  "A good time was had by all" and the group's chemistry indicated that WARR was on the road to permanent success!  WARR'82 initiated us to the complexity of promoting a major international event.  The lessons learned in 1982 about handling civic and corporate leaders and promoting sponsors encouraged us to mature to the qualified and effective committee that we are today.  We knew that we must expand and adopt a 12-month preparation philosophy to ensure a first-class event.  Thus, a small, hard-core group was formed to deal with absolutely every detail of WARR.  This group became known as the International WARR Committee.  WARR has grown in prestige as well as in numbers each year, with now more than 3,000 participants attending.  Where have we been over the years – take a look!
